Cyndislist

What families are you researching.?

Sills--Daniel and Phoebe- Donovan and Eleanor- William J

Comments:

William J Sills was my great grandfather. His death record lists Daniel and Phoebe as his parents. His marriage in 1874 in Bay City MI to Mary A C Cole states that he was born in Huron County Canada and that he was 23 years old at that time. The only listing that I have found for William J Sills is in the 1851 census where he is listed with Donovan Sills who is Daniel's brother. I would like to find proof of his parentage--Donovan or Daniel.

How did you locate our site?

looking for my family name

What families are you researching.?

Church

Comments:

My family name is Church, my family originally settled in Calabogie Ontario(near Renfrew)The Church family donated a half an acre for the first Methodist church in Calabogie. I believe the first family member was John who is buried in Calabogie and his tombstone states that he was born in the USA, I have contacted many people in the USA with the same surname and they can not connect with me in any way. The only person they mention is Yankee John Church who eventually moved to New York state but no mention of any of his family moving to Canada. It seems that the name Church shows up in the confederate army and the union army. It seems that Calabogie is quite far away from most of the UEL area that most people went to and therefore I did not even thing they may be UEL. Can you help me, the Church family was in Calabogie in very late 1700's or very early 1800's. Thanks Jim Church

Whitlock/Whitelock - Williamson - Conaway - Freele

Comments:

The Whitlock family I am looking for were married at Clarks
Mills and they lived in Camden E. they were John Whitelock and his wife Rachel Conaway. I had found them in the 1851 census for Camden E.. They had a son Gregory Whitelock that had drowned in the Napanee River after the 1851 census. I found that information in Rachel's obit. from the Strathroy Newspaper in 1904. Also they had a set of twin girls that were born and died in 1851 it is stated on the 1851 census.
I am looking for the cemetery they are buried, Gregory and
the twin girls that is. The parents are buried in Middlesex
Co. Thank you for any information you can give me.

I am researching the family of Abraham Cronkhite, born @ 1760-80 I believe in New York. He married Mary Kail possibly in Fredericksburg and had at least two sons, (1)Jacob, baptised 2/22/1796 in Fredericksburg by Rev. John Langhorn (who married Elizabeth McGrath possibly McGraw, both from Fredericksburg on 2/25/1819 by Rev. McDowall), and (2) Nicholas, baptised 8/3/1800 in Fredericksburg by Rev. McDowall. There may be another son, Joseph, born @ 1795, or it is a relative. Abraham or his children may have moved to Tyendinaga Twp, where at least one of his children were born. I am trying to find out who Abraham's father is (his father was a loyalist)and I am trying to find the birth records for Jacob's children and grandchildren, possibly born in Fredericksburg or Tyendinaga. There is another Cronkhite family with a father Abraham and sons Abraham and Jacob, but I don't believe it is them, different birth and death dates. My family moved to Hungerford Twp. What would be a good source to check?

What families are you researching.?

Van Luven

Comments:

I would like to obtain any/all information on the Van Luven's. I have been trying to find who the father of Benjamin Van Luven was. He was born 1788 in Murvale, Ontario. If you could help me or point me in the right direction I would appreciate it very much.
Thank-You for your time.

Obituary of Johanna states she emmigrated to Quebec in 1842. I don't know how long she was there. I was checking the 1851 census and found nothing. Thank you. Carol Donovan, Cuba, NY, USA

Looking for the earliest info re Dingman's in North Fredericksburgh. John and Garret had grants as U.E.L.'s but their families went to Percy, etc. during early 1800's.

What families are you researching.?

Carroll

Comments:

Looking for the 1851 census record for the area of picton, Ontario which should show the Carroll family.
My Catherine Carroll was born June 12, 1846 "in Picton, C.W." her 1869 marriage record in Saginaw, Michigan shows.
Her fathers name, it seems, was John CARROLL and I only know of one brother who was Edward Carroll.
Can't locate the 1851 census for Prince Edward County on the Internet for viewing.

*****I need help with the Carroll information of Picton; particularly the 1851 census is of interest!!!

It seems that only one "P." Carroll family lived there in 1861, so my family had "maybe" already moved to Michigan by then. It's too soon for me to know if the "P" Carroll's of 1861 were related to my John Carroll family.
